Lordy, Lordy...

It's been years since I've posted anything here, but let's just jump right to my big comic beef:

Chris Claremont.

He is undoubtedly the most influential X-Men writer ever. He created characters that t I have loved since I began reading comics in the early 90s. Rogue, love her. Psylocke, loved her. Rachel Summers/Grey, LOVE her. White Queen, Sinister, Kitty, the list goes on and on...

Claremont just finished writing Excalibur and is currently writing New Exiles. While Exiles was interesting when it first appeared, Claremont has turned it into a dizzying attempt at recreating the X-Men of old. Here's his line up: Psylocke, Sage, Pete Wisdom, Age of Apocalpse Sabretooth, alterna Kitty Pryde, alterna Rogue, a male Mystique and Morph. Dazzler and Longshot may also be in it, but my hope is that a better writer gets a hold of them. My issue isn't that Claremont is using these characters, it's how he's using them.

Any X-Men fan can tell you how kick-ass both Sage and Pyslocke used to be. Now they constantly question their abilities, seem to have no control over their abilities, and forgotten that one must wear panties when one jumpkicks(as seen in Die by the Sword #2). It irks me that Claremont can turn these strong, well-known,. well-loved characters and allow them to be weak, pathetic shells of their former selves. *sigh*

Thanks to Worst.Blog.Ever for a better low-down on the new lows Claremont is taking our beloved X-characters.

"If 40 industrial nations can [provide health care] and balance
the budget at the same time, it's time to have somebody in the White

American Idol - Top 3, VONZELL!

    <lj:music>Don't Leave Me This Way - Vonzell</lj:music>

Yes, I am crazy. This is way too important for me. I've been hooked
since they showed the first auditions in Bumfuck City, America. Now
that there is only 3 contestants left, and although the competition is
tough, I need to sort out the Top 3 why Vonzell must win.
I don't know what it was like in past AIs, but this year presents America with 3 completely different styles of music.

Carrie Underwood: The
Country Singer. Simon exclaimed half way through the competition that
she, "would be the next American Idol." Carrie had a big future to look
forward to.I loved her rendition of "Alone" so much I didn't think the other idols had a chance of keeping up.
Unfortunately, she still had to prove she should win. To date Carrie's
performances have been ho-hum country bunkin. I can see her
losing this next week if she doesn't improve her stage presence, but it's
not likely. Last week Carrie let Anthony Federov, who received the least amount of votes, obviously out perform her when singing the same song. Not good.

Bo Bice: The Rocker. I
love his name. In fact, I love this guy! His performances week after
week exceed every expectation I ever had for him. I didn't think he'd
hold out against Constantine for the Idol-Rocker title, but he proved
he's the actual and ONLY true rocker this AI has ever had. He's
absolutely smooth on stage and always deliver, except when he did
showtunes (we'll forgive him.) The final two will be Bo and one of the
ladies.

Vonzell Solomon: The
Soulful Diva. I felt Vonzell began as a contestant lost in a crowd
of egos and early favorites. I don't think I considered her strong
until she performerd "I Have Nothing." My number one rule for any
idol is to never, NEVER perform a Whitney or Celine song.
Ninety-nine percent of the time you'll sound subpar. Really. Except,
Vonzell didn't! She carried that note only-Whitney-can-do so
amazingly well! It's been an uphill battle for Vonzell to prove she
deserves to be Top 3. She's only gotten better each week. Her "Don't
Leave Me This Way" placed Vonzell into the baby Diva relm. Her
versatility has allowed her to remain a strong, confident and lovable
performer. I'd love to see Vonzell and Bo battle it out.

I'm too opinionated. GO BABY V!!!

I've been watching American Idol this year. Too much. It's gotten to
the point that I'm infuriated with top 5. Sure, Carrie, Bo and Vonzell
definitely belong there, but Scott and Anthony? As singers, I hate
them.

Both have shown week after week how uninteresting their styles are.
Both are incredibly boring. Both have also received Simon's cruelest
judgements of the week more than once. The two are quite possibly the
most boring idols of the season.

Maybe if I watched the previous seasons of AI, I would understand this
strange situation. But, I'm new to this and unfortunately I'm dreading

I'm being a good sport about it. I know Joey needs to clean. I don't complain.
He moves into the living room, vacuums it, and begins folding the
blankets he's left out. Taking a quick break from my accounting hw, I
stretch and watch him. When you love someone sometimes you watch them
perform their various little habits. What's annoying is when Joey ruins

The restaurant I work at, Americano, will be
donating 25% of all our gross receipts for the
day. 25% of all breakfast, lunch, dinner, and
alcohol will go to a group dedicated to preventing
HIV infections. This is great organization and
their cause is beneficial to so many people in our
community.

Interested? make reservations

If you're not familiar with Americano, it's
because we've just opened! We're located on the
Water Front with views of the Ferry Building and
the Bay Bridge! We serve American-Italian cuisine
that's quite amazing, and our restaurant is, of
course, gorgeous.

Oh, and if Americano isn't close enough to you,
Dining Out for Life will be happening at over 40

Make reservations, enjoy a wonderful meal in a
beautiful new restaurant, and leave satisfied
knowing you helped make a difference by having a
great dish!
<lj:music>Back to Mine -Aphex Twin</lj:music>

I'm not sure why, but today has been spiritual for me. But, thankfully,
not in the sense that I'm "born again." Many encouraging signs that my
life is on a good track have been popping up everywhere.

I have had a building confidence in my decisions, and life direction - something that I feel I've been lacking for years.

I have an amazing new job that has given me renewed self-worth.

My friends have been absolutely amazing recently. They've always been amazing, but now I'm reviving my friendships with them.

I got accepted to SFSU and start in the fall!

I stopped smoking a few weeks back. It's nice to be out of the cloud that hazed my thoughts for so long, but...

Though I'm not smoking, I still love www.stonedRobot.com.

Joss Whedon is directing the new Wonder Woman movie. Excellent!

OK, so the last couple aren't necessarily spiritual events, but really,
the spirit needs good entertainment! Oh, yeah, and this:

I'm really disappointed at Mario's decision to leave American Idol.
He's been an amazing force from the beginning. Who'll replace his fun
energy, good looks, and beautiful batting lashes?

Just in case you can't get enough speculation on Mario's departure, read this:

New prediction for Idol:
Mario's leaving will breathe new life into some of the more boring
contestants. Hopefully, they'll feel they have a better chance of
winning and step up their game big time, esp Nikko!
American Idol - who're your favorites?

    <lj:music>Daily Show Intro</lj:music>

I'm really obsessed with this show!

I think it's because I can judge people without any guilty feelings of being judgmental. This show relies
on my ability to overly critique other people's abilities. I can't
sing. I can't perform on a stage. But, I am a great audience member and
some of these the idols are truly entertaining.

My favorites so far:

Mario - If you like boys
and you don't watch American Idol, now's the time to join! He's a
hottie, and has a buttery voice you just want to listen to over and
over and over... *drool*

Anwar - He's been my
favorite from the very beginning. His voice is perfect, his presence is
perfect, and when he pulled his dreads back this week, his hair was
perfect. I predict he'll be Top 2.

Nekko - He's great and
really fun to watch. I think he's made Paula cream herself twice now.
Me, I think he needs to change out his black suit for... um... a
different one?

Nadia - So far she's the
only girl that I like. Compared to her all the other girls are dull,
lackluster, and lacking sparkle. Ok, that's not entirely true. But
Nadia's female competition (Mikalah, Jessica, and Carrie) haven't yet
made me want to buy a CD from them. And isn't that the real bottom line?

Who're your favorites? Or am I alone in my AI obsession???
Well, maybe not bad.

But remember when your parents and teachers insisted you drink milk so you could grow up big and strong?

Here's one study that says milk doesn't really do that: Milk is gross.

And, yes. I really do think milk is gross. It's ok in cereals. You can
get cheese and yogurt from it. But it's basically cow titty mucous.
Nasty!
